Amsterdamn
So I figured that a few people might actually want some experiences from the crazy Dutch capital and here they are...
After leaving Wouter in the airport(that guy was crazy) we headed outside to the bus stop to get to our hostel. Unfortunately the bus came quite late so Wouter, who knows how, was able to catch up to us and regale us with more stories about his country.
When we did finally get to our hostel we checked in and decided to have a walk around the place. It's a pretty amazing city if not quite different. "coffee" houses seem to be pretty much everywhere.
During our trek we stopped to have some fries with mayonaise which is a Dutch thing and now I know why it hasn't caught on.
The next day was fairly similar as we walked around and just soaked up the atmosphere, or lack thereof. We were out on the streets at about 10 and there was noone else in sight. In the afternoon we went to The Van Gogh museum and had a kick around in the park outside.
Then it was time to sample some dutch brews(which is a great way to get over jetlag, WOOO!)
Our last day in Amsterdam( June 6th) saw us try to get to Amsterdam Arena which turned into a complete debacle. Somehow Pete and I lost Payten and Tim and due to my phone not working in Holland, we weren't able to get back together until that afternoon at the airport.
Thankfully our plane left ontime with all engines intact and we are now London. Phew!

so what pubs are you watching all the games in?
We watched the first match in London in a pub in Southwark. We are currently watching the ecuador v poland match at Tim's house.
timmy you little ripper!!! lousy 2nd half fellas, awesome final 10.on.
hey nath, email me your phone number.
some nice work there by mr. cahill - I'm assuming you've been celebrating too hard to post anything new. But that's really not good enough - some of us are trying to live vicariously through you, and you're not making it very easy.
soaked in beer, lost my voice, only just recovered from watching the game at Walkabout Shepherds Bush!
Awesome atmosphere and great anthem singing, and I'm not just talking about the national one. Peter Allen was there with Cold Chisel.
Bring on the Brazilians!
Tim
ps, bit disturbed by the lack of Wouter stories! There's plenty and I think the world should know before he causes some real damage!

Wouter... the man... the mystery... the clinically insane. I think Nath but scratched the surface on the role Wouter played on our short trip to Amsterdam. Firstly, this cat made some bizarre and scary comments - including "I wonder what it's like to fly an airplane into concrete" followed by "I asked a pilot this question, he did not speak to me until we landed". Wouter is an engineer at the airport... we think there may have been a conspiracy between KLM, the Dutch football federation and Wouter to ensure we didn't make the Socceroo friendly in Rotterdam.
Other Wouter comments that freaked us out... "You know how Amsterdam is below sea level yeah... well... if the dykes were to... you know... blow up... I could sink half of Holland... and I know where to place the explosives... only need two bags of explosives yeah" AND "You know why I hate this country, you can't buy automatic weapons - Belgium however yeah, you can buy any gun that you can't conceal yeah".
Wouter also mentioned the PPP... 12 year olds dude. This man was scary... and we probably should have reported him. For entire trip we laughed about running into him as it felt like such a small city. That's why were a little worried when Nath and Pete "disappeared" for over three hours!!
Happy times my good friends - hope you're enjoying Germany and vibes of World Cup glory. See you both soon.
Ok Nathan, it is not a good sign that we are getting more information about your trip from one of your friends that we don't know (hi payten...!), and on YOUR blog no less. and STILL no entry following the rather awesome comeback of the aussies against japan... not impressed.
p.s. meanwhile, hope you're having a blast over there! so jealous.
p.p.s. VICARIOUSLY! ha HA! who is NEXT? stupid copiers.
